Severe Panic Attacks - What You Can Do To Eliminate Them

For most people who live with severe panic attacks, the psychological and physical damage is enormous.  Attacks of this level of severity have been known to lead to complete nervous breakdowns, strokes, damaging stomach ulcers, and even lethal heart attacks.   Over the long term, living with these debilitating attacks simply cannot be an option for these individuals.  If you are such an individual, know that there is help.

Having to deal with the occasional attack is bad enough.  But living with the recurrent and sometimes physically painful type of severe panic attacks is something entirely different.  And, potentially these attacks could be deadly.  Medication, for the long term does not help as often this type of treatment has side effects.  And often the side effects, counteracting with the attacks cause even more damage to the individually physically.

People who suffer from frequent attacks often fantasize irrationally about future events which may never happen.  Understand this important principle.  You cannot predict or control the future. If you cannot control what could happen tomorrow, next week, or next month then why stress out and allow your anxiety level to go through the roof?  Learn to live in the “present”.  Not in the past, and certainly not the future.

Individuals who suffer from having severe attacks are often provided with behavioral-modification exercises by qualified medical professionals.  The individual is often told that, philosophically, the most important part of any treatment plan involves his/her being able to re-gain control of the thoughts coming from the mind.  Simple breathing techniques, exercises intended to relax the mind and body, (usually involving yoga), and even a change in diet are all important.  Behavior-modification exercises work to relieve the stress and anxiety in the mind and body.  A lower level of stress and anxiety in the individual allows him/her to re-gain control of his/her mind.
